Muddy: Spreads mess that you walk over |
The wellies are footwear that ignore messes' walk speed reduction, but reduces walk speed by 20%.
- Interact to wear the appliance. While wearing the footwear, Interact with the appliance to remove the footwear.
- Only one type of footwear can be worn at a time.
- Player's walk speed is reduced by -20% while wore.
- Walk speed reduction stacks with other sources, except from messes.
- While wearing the shoes, the player has a random chance to spread mess or wet spots, creating a duplicate at the spot the player traveled to.
- The duplicated altered floor spot will have all the same priorities as the original source.
- The hit box of the appliance is 1 x 0.33, meaning with careful placement, the player can pass between the appliances.
- There are niche situations in which wearing wellies is useful, but these shoes are often a trap for newer players. There are a lot of better options in dealing with messes that do not bring the negatives that wearing wellies also brings.
- Having an innate -20% walk speed reduction at all times due to wearing wellies becomes a huge penalty when speed is really needed. This penalty is intended to off-set the benefit of ignoring mess movement reduction (which can reduce player's speed by 50%~85%), but mess in general can be minimized, which would limited the amount of time a player is actually spending traveling over a mess.
- In other words, using wellies results in the player moving at 80% all times, instead of moving at 100% at most times, if not at all times, with some smart placement of certain appliances or the purchase of a few specific appliances to block messes from forming at certain locations.
- Messes are limited in where they can form (around where the customers actually sit and hobs), and because of that, there are many ways to manage where the messes form. Smart placement of tables and hobs can minimize and/or prevent messes forming at locations a player will travel across.
- A player can simply 'walk around' a mess, including enclosed spaces that are 1-tile wide as messes (of any size) do not actually cover an entire tile. So even in an 1-tile wide gap, it is possible to walk thru a tile with a mess on it by moving along the edges of the tile, severely reducing the negative effect of the mess.
- Sinks can some time remove surrounding non-large messes while cleaning, so a well placed sink can help keep certain tiles clean.
- Appliances like the Kitchen Floor Protector or a Rug can prevent messes from forming at their placement spot, while not hindering a player's movement in any form. For small spaces, this is usually the better option than obtaining wellies.
- There are also appliances like the Robot Mop and Robot Buffer that can automatically clean and/or prevent messes from forming, though due to their cost and the amount needed to be effective for the space they are covering, these are often very late overtime options.
- If playing with other players, the messes spread by a person wearing wellies will become an issue for all the other players who do not have wellies but are also sharing the space. This will force everyone to either not have wellies, or have wellies which means all of them will now have speed reduction to ignore the mess one player was causing.
- If wellies are needed, do not depend on them for the long haul and attempt to transition away from it as quickly as possible.
